Why are Guido jewels.com prices lower
than the ones at jewelery shops?
Guidojewls buys its products wholesale
directly from the manufacturer. The prices at jewellery shops are higher because
of the high distribution costs and the use of middlemen transaction, which shops
must necessarily add to the price of the product.
When will I receive the
purchased products? How much does delivery cost?
If the jewel is
available in stock, shipment takes place the next working day. For bank
remittance payments, shipment takes place on the first working day following
receipt of payment. You can check if the product is available in stock on the
product card, the advanced shopping cart and the wish
list.
Lead time and forwarding agent costs are shown in the shipment rates table.
How can I find the right size for rings for my
fingers?
If you already have a ring that is the same size as the one you want
to order, measure its inner diameter with a millimetric ruler. If you do not
have a similar ring, wrap a piece of non-elastic thread around the finger you
want to buy the ring for and then measure the thread with a millimetric ruler.
Here you'll find the conversion table which permits you to obtain the size you
need for your order: ring measures table. With your first purchase, you will receive a gift which
allows you to know exactly the size of the rings and verify the size of our
products.
Can I request an item with features different than the

Why do the prices of Guidojewels products change?
The prices of Guidojewel's products depend on gold
price. The price of gold changes constantly, as is also the case with foreign
currencies. If the price of refined gold rises, the prices of
Guidojewels products go up as well. However, if the price of
refined gold fall, the prices of Guidojewels products also
drop.
What does 18-carat gold mean? What is the meaning of 750
*/** gold? What is the "count" of gold?
The pure (or "refined")
gold is too malleable to be used alone to make a jewel. The count is the ratio
between the pure gold and the other metals contained in the jewel and it is
expressed in karats (18/24) or in thousandths (750 */**).
How can I find out how much gold there is in Guidojewels
products?
Guidojewels has a life guarantee for the content of
refined gold in its jewels. Click here to display the table of gold carat
measurement and counts. This life guarantee means that if you find a lower
count, even of only one thousandth, you can return the jewel also after 30 or 60
days.
How can I recognize a gold jewel from a false one?
By law, each jewel must be stamped with the manufacturer's
trademark. You can dispel every doubt with a simple test: since gold is not
eaten by acids, scrape off a little quantity of metal and wet the jewel with a
drop of acid. If the trace disappears, it means that the jewel is false.
Is
the weight indicated on the product card
exact?
Guidojewels weighs each product before it ships it
to its customers. However, you must also bear in mind that the jewels sold
at Guidojewels are not machine-made, but handmade by carefully
selected goldsmiths. As a result, each piece is "unique" and the actual weight
of your jewel could differ slightly from the one indicated at
www.guidojewels.com
What is the difference among yellow, white, red, pink and
black gold?
The percentage of pure gold and the value of a jewel do
not depend on the color of gold, which is determined by the dosage of the other
metals contained in the jewel, such as silver and copper. Moreover, it is
possible to obtain different colors by adding very thin coatings of other metals
to the surface of the jewel. For example, rhodium and ruthenium are used for
this purpose.
What is a zircon? What is the difference between a
zircon and a diamond?
A zircon is a synthetic stone, produced
industrially as an imitation of a diamond. The zircon has a lower degree of
hardness than diamonds but is very similar in chemical composition and
appearance.
What does the weight of cubic zirconia in carats I
can find in the product card correspond to?
The weight of every
Cubic Zirconia stone in a Gioie.it jewel corresponds to the real weight of a
diamond of the same size. The size of Cubic Zirconia stones is usually expressed
in millimeters but we preferred to write it in carats in order to make the
comparison with diamonds more likely. Cubic Zirconia stones in fact are very
similar to diamonds and it is easier to realize the final effect of the jewel if
their features are compared.
What are the main features for
evaluating the quality and consequently the price of a diamond?
All
diamonds are graded according to four features: weight (expressed in carats,
equal to 0.2 grams), clarity, color and cut.
What is the meaning of the
acronyms used to grade diamond clarity?
The clarity of diamonds is graded
according to the size of inclusions contained in the stone. IF means a pure
stone. VVS1/VVS2 means a stone with very few inclusions that are barely visible
with 10x magnification. VS1/VS2 means a stone with very few inclusions visible
with 10x magnification. SI1/SI2 means a stone with inclusions that are visible
with 10x magnification. P1/P2/P3 means a stone having inclusions that are
visible to the naked eye.
What is the meaning of the acronyms
referring to the color of diamonds?
The scale used for diamond
color grading goes from the letter D (the most valuable) to the letter Z (the
last valuable). D stands for Exceptional White +, E stands for Exceptional
White, F stands for Rare White +, G stands for Rare White, H White, I/J Slightly
Tinted White, K/L Tinted White, M/Z Tinted.
Which shapes can a diamond
be cut into? What is the difference between a diamond and a brilliant?
Diamonds can be cut into different shapes in order to enhance their
quality and brilliance. The most widely used and appreciated shape is the round
cut or brilliant cut whence the well-known term “brilliant” used to indicate
round diamonds: therefore there is no difference between a “diamond” and a
“brilliant”. Other common shapes include heart-cut, oval, marquise and
pear-shaped.
Are Guidojewels diamonds certified?
The
loose diamonds of considerable value sold by Gioie are certified by the
International Gemological Institute as stated in the relative product detail
card. Certified diamonds are delivered sealed in the special guarantee wrapping
as shown in the enlarged view of the product detail card, together with the
relative guarantee certificate. Usually, diamonds of lower value are not
certified because the cost of the certification would significantly affect the
price of the jewel. Guidojewels guarantees every diamond sold
both in terms of quality, attaching to the documentation accompanied to the
shipment the guarantee certificate autenticated by the Quality Control, as in
terms of restitution within 7 days when not satisfied. Upon request,
Guidojewels can also certify less expensive diamonds by
charging for the costs involved (about 25 Euros per diamond).
Can I return certified diamonds even if I have opened the
sealed wrapping of the International Gemological Institute?
We are
sorry, but to return diamonds certified by the International Gemological
Institute, the sealed wrapping must be intact.
What are the features of
titanium?
Titanium is an extremely light and strong metal. In the
Mohs scale, which classifies the hardness of minerals and ranges from 1 (the
softest, Talc) to 10 (the hardest, diamond), titanium is at 6 while gold and
silver are at 2,5 and platinum is at 3,5. The specific gravity of titanium is
4,54 and that of gold is 19,3. Moreover titanium is an ecological metal because
it is totally recyclable and hypoallergenic. Thanks to these properties titanium
jewels can perfectly bear abrasions, corrosions and any kind of pollution, from
urban to industrial emissions, and they can consequently be worn without any
aesthetic deteriorations in sea and tropical environments
too.
What is the difference between a pavé setting and a bezel
setting?
In a pavé setting, each stone is set using tiny gold
grains that hold the stone. Generally, by extension a "pavé" jewel holds several
stones, all of which are set using this method and placed closely together. In
the bezel setting, the stone is set using extremely thin gold "wings" that
overlap the edge of the stone continuously. This setting is normally used for
jewelry to enhance a single stone, held only by polished gold, in the best
possible light.
What are the differences between the different types of
earring clasps?
Click here to view the photographs and descriptions
of the earring clasps available from www.Guidojewels.com.
What is the difference between a ring described, for
example, as white/yellow and a yellow/white one?
As far as this
example is concerned, it would mean that the white/yellow ring has got yellow
stem and white head, whereas the yellow/white ring has got the opposite
features.
